Standing there on the hill, KC had no idea just how beautiful she looked. The sun setting behind her, glowed through her hair and framed her face as she laughed. Brian, awestruck, was taken off guard.

Trying to control her heavy breathing, KC tried to stay calm. She had no idea who these people were, where they had come from, or why they seemed to want her dead. She knew it was just a matter of time before they found her hiding place behind the crate. It wasn't a very good hiding place after all. She was going to have to overcome the stiffness that seemed to have seized her legs, get up, and either run, or fight. She heard the footsteps of the strangers getting closer, and she hugged herself to try to stop shaking. Her hand brushed against the gun on her hip. She started; it's existence had quite slipped her mind. How she hated the abnoxious thing, but now it offered her a chance of survival. Slowly she pulled it out of the holster, and tried to locate the bullets in her coat pocket. The stangers kicked in another door, and she used the noise as a cloak as she quickly loaded the pistol, but it didn't give her enough time to cock it.
