KC stared at the young man in disbelief. There was nothing particularly unusual about this guy. Everything about him, though not unpleasant in the slightest, was still perfectly normal. Everything that is, except for his eyes. While his companions' eyes were the usual dull, lifeless shades, his were an ocean of deep aqua blue... and they were alive.
Taken aback by the unexpected meeting of someone else who was aware, KC stuttered a bit before she could remember why she had addressed the group in the first place. "Um,...Uh, Mrs. Hampton has requested that the guests stay off the balcony right now. The railing isn't as secure as it could be." the four young men rose from their seats politely and the blue eyed one spoke for the others, "We beg your pardon. We'll relocate immediately. Thank you for informing us." His eyes went on to say, "and hello to you too, by the way." and he gave her a quick wink. KC blushed; horrified that he had noticed her so specifically, as she had him. She looked at the floor before her eyes could reply and rapidly walked away.
Clara met her at the soda table. "So who was that?" She asked. KC filled a cup with sprite; "Who? Those guys on the balcony? I have no idea." "You seemed to hit it off with the cute one really well then." Clara teased. "you sure you don't want to go back over there and talk to him? He looks lonely." KC was irritated. She had learned to despise flirts almost religiously, and for Clara to suggest that she become one was absolutely repulsive. Her eyes flared up and she made no effort to guard her tongue as she used it to give Clara a sound lashing. Her victim's spirits were quickly, and thoroughly doused. "I'm sorry, KC, I just thought it might have been nice if you got to like each other. You seemed to have the same... Oh, I don't know, look in your eyes or something. You just seemed like you'd be good together, that's all. I'm sorry I even said anything." KC sighed, "It's alright." She looked away, and made eye contact with the young man who had caused it all. Her eyes accused him, "See what you've done?" But he only grinned, turned, and left the building.
